Bonjour de Paris! Welcome to my third newsletter. Today, I’ll share what I’ve been up to, details on how to win a copy of this Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade map by Parisian artist Sonja Bajic as well as my upcoming events.
I am in love with Sonja’s work. Place is at the heart of everything I write, so it is especially meaningful to see a map of my book. Many readers write to tell me that they loved visiting settings in my novel The Paris Library. I hope that readers of this new novel will enjoy learning about the Château de Blérancourt, the Franco-American museum, to learn more about the incredible real-life characters. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you’re already registered to win one of five maps, which will be given away later this summer.
I had a great time speaking at the Red Wheelbarrow and Bill and Rosa’s Book Room this month and am so grateful for the readers who supported me!

Here in France, June 21st was La Fête de la Musique. The streets turned into open-air concerts and performers of all kinds shared their talents. I was very lucky to attend my friend Rachel Kesselman-Alliot’s concert. For more information about her concerts, sign up for her newsletter, Salon Nouveau.
I took singing lessons several years ago, when I was teaching first-year students of English. They were shy and afraid to make mistakes. To put myself in the mindset of a beginner, I took voice lessons with a professional singer and was surprised at how self-conscious I was. Sometimes, the lyrics wouldn’t come out of my mouth. Since then, I’ve taken barefoot flamenco and tai chi classes to remind myself what it feels like to be a beginner and to have the pleasure of learning something new.

I’ll be leaving for Montana soon and have several book events planned, both online and in person. I hope you’ll be interested in learning about Jessie Carson, the American librarian who changed the literary landscape of France! As you can see from the map above, right after World War I, Jessie transformed ambulances into bookmobiles.
